Housewife beaten to insanity by husband and sister...

Policemen attached to Owutu Police
Station have charged a middle-aged man, Ajisafe
Solomon, and his sister, Ajayi Ayomide, before an
Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court over allegation of wife
battering and sodomy.

The accused were arraigned on a three-count
charge bordering on inflicting bodily harm and
conspiracy to commit sodomy.
Police said the accused conspired and inflicted
grave bodily harm on Solomon’s wife, Opeyemi
Amuda, 25, by inserting a bottle of beer and
pepper in her private part, which made her run
mad.
The charge further read that the accused used
cane to inflict severe wounds on the victim’s
body, thereby committing assault, which
contravened Section 409 of Lagos State law.
Vanguard learned that the victim, Amuda, had
since gone insane, following the severe beating
she received from her husband and sister in-law.
It was gathered that the incident happened at 9,
Aminu Toyin Street, Igbo-Olumo, on June 19,
when Amuda’s husband, Solomon Ajisafe,
reprimanded her for allegedly insulting his
mother.
Neighbours’ story
According to neighbours, Solomon and his
siblings allegedly poured ground pepper and
inserted a beer bottle in Amuda’s private part over
allegation that she committed adultery and had
the effrontery to fight her mother-in-law.
Vanguard gathered that the police had begun a
manhunt for Solomon’s mother, said to be a
prophetess in a white garment church.
The Magistrate, Mrs Afeez, remanded the accused
in prison and ordered that the victim be taken to
a rehabilitation centre for three months.
The case was adjourned to July 15.
Enters NGO
Meanwhile, Deacon Obatungashe Adebayo, the
Coordinator of Women Arise Initiative at Igbo-
Olumo, said the accused would be made to face
the full wrath of the law.
She said: “This is a very sad development. It is
just like the case of the Ejigbo sodomy and we
wonder why they will go this far to torture
somebody.
“I saw the victim and she is in a very bad shape.
She has gone mad.
“She is defecating and urinating on herself. In
court, she could not say any sensible word. She
defecated all over her body.
“We are going to follow this case as Dr. Joe-Oke
Odumakin, our President, has taken interest in the
case and she has condemned this ugly act.
“We will ensure that others involved in treating
this woman like an animal will be made to face
the full wrath of the law.”
