Ooni Of Ife's Obalufe Dead At 85(Photo)

Less than three months after the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunade Sijuwade passed on, his second in command Obalufe of Ife, Oba Solomon Folorunso Omisakin has also joined his ancestors.



He died on Thursday 15th October around 10a.m. at an undisclosed hospital. The late Obalufe, who was also the leader of Ife kingmakers and Prime minister, was on sick bed when Oba Sijuwade died in a London Hospital after a brief illness.

Allaying the fears of many, Ife traditional chiefs say that Obalufe's demise would not in any way affect efforts to appoint a new Ooni. A source conversant with the situation said that the next in rank, Lowa of Ife, Oba Joseph Ijaodola, might perform the functions of the late Obalufe, whose duty it was to make official pronouncement of the new Ooni when appointed.
